We are the Detroit Black Girl Book Club, a community dedicated to celebrating and amplifying Black voices in literature. Our mission is simple: create a space where Black stories, perspectives, and creativity are centered and valued.
We meet once a month to connect, laugh, and discuss books written by Black men and women across all genres. Beyond reading, our gatherings are about sisterhood, meaningful conversations, and building a community rooted in love for books and culture.
Whether you’ve read every page or just a few, you’re welcome here. This is a space to grow, share, and be inspired together.

Meet Your Book Club President
Hi, I’m Ashley Jackson, founder and president of Detroit Black Girl Book Club. I created DBGBC to make space for Black readers to celebrate Black stories in community.
When I’m not planning our next meetup, I’m curating book recs on Instagram and connecting with readers. I’m so glad you’re here.
